Looking for a cricket writer who understands the game — and how to bring it to life?

Aged six, I remember wondering why TV commentators kept saying that Doug Walters was a genius. He never scored many runs when I watched him bat.

Many years later I got to ask some of his former team mates about it, in an article I wrote for the Nightwatchman.

It all started when Ian Chappell's Australians took on England's Dad's Army in 1975! Ever since, I've watched cricket, read about it, played it, and later taught it in schools, coached the game in clubs. Now I write about it!

That deep familiarity gives my writing authenticity, insight, and a feel for the game that goes beyond the obvious.

I write cricket pieces that are smart, accessible, and human - whether that's a profile, commentary, essay or feature.

What's that famous old quote about there being more to cricket than cricket itself?
